Cookie Policy
Languvia separates essential service storage from optional analytics.
1. About this Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how [Full registered legal name], operating as Languvia (“Languvia”, “we”, “us” or “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on its website and customer-facing platform.
It explains the purposes of browser storage, the choices available to you and how to change those choices.
Read this Policy together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information, work with service providers and respond to privacy requests.
This Policy covers services operated by Languvia. It does not replace the cookie policy of an independently operated website that uses a Languvia plugin or integration.
2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser when you interact with a website. They can help maintain a sign-in session, remember a choice or support another website function.
Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which allow a website to store information within your browser. Scripts and other technologies can also access device information without creating a conventional cookie.
In this Policy, “cookies and similar technologies” includes these forms of storage and access. A technology is not automatically outside privacy requirements simply because it does not use a traditional cookie.
3. Essential storage
Essential storage supports functions necessary to deliver the website or a service you request. Depending on the function used, this can include maintaining an authenticated session, protecting account access, securing requests and remembering your privacy choices.
We use the essential category only for a genuinely necessary purpose. A technology is not essential merely because it is useful to our business.
Where the applicable strictly necessary exemption applies, this storage does not require optional-cookie consent. Its use remains subject to applicable privacy requirements.
Essential storage cannot be switched off through the optional analytics control. You can restrict it through your browser, but doing so may prevent sign-in or another requested function from working correctly.
4. Optional analytics
Optional analytics help us understand how visitors use our public website and identify areas for improvement. Languvia’s public website keeps optional analytics disabled unless you choose to allow them. Its current consent interface separates essential storage from optional analytics. languvia.com
Where an analytics service is deployed, its provider, purpose, identifiers and storage duration must be identified in the cookie register accompanying this Policy.
Your analytics choice is separate from account administration, translation-job records, subscription metering, billing and security records needed to operate the service. Those activities are explained in our Privacy Policy; the analytics setting is not an account-deletion or subscription-cancellation control.
Permission for analytics does not authorise advertising, retargeting or unrelated tracking. Any additional optional purpose must be separately explained and supported by the required choice or consent.
5. Making your choice
The website provides the following options:
Option What it means Essential only Keep optional analytics disabled while allowing storage necessary for the requested website or account functions.
Allow analytics Permit the optional analytics described in this Policy and the accompanying cookie register.
You can reopen the consent interface through “Analytics choices” in the website footer. These are the options currently displayed on Languvia’s public pages. Languvia Simply browsing, scrolling, closing a notice or accepting our Terms of Service does not constitute consent to optional tracking. Consent must be an informed, affirmative choice, rather than an assumption based on continued website use.
6. Changing or withdrawing consent
You may change your analytics choice at any time by opening “Analytics choices” and selecting “Essential only.”
When you withdraw consent, we will stop the optional storage, access and associated processing that relied on it. We will remove relevant identifiers under our control and communicate the withdrawal to relevant providers where required. Related personal information will be deleted where the applicable withdrawal or erasure requirements require it.
Withdrawing consent does not make processing carried out lawfully before withdrawal unlawful. It does not, however, permit continued consent-based processing after withdrawal. The withdrawal mechanism must be as easy to use as the mechanism for giving consent.
Contact privacy@languvia.com if the control is unavailable or does not appear to respect your choice.
7. Remembering your preferences
We store your analytics decision locally so that the website can recognise your selection on later visits. Languvia’s published notice also allows a limited consent record to be retained as evidence of the choice made.
A preference stored in one browser may not carry across to another browser, device or browser profile. Clearing website storage may also remove the saved choice.
Where we retain a consent record, we use it to administer and demonstrate privacy choices—not as permission for unrelated tracking. Records that remain identifiable are handled under our Privacy Policy, even where an identifier has been hashed or otherwise obscured.
8. Third-party features and services
Certain requested features may involve an external provider, such as a sign-in service, payment interface or security check. The storage involved depends on the feature and its configuration.
Some storage may be necessary to complete the action you request. Any additional optional tracking must be separately assessed and must not be treated as essential merely because it is bundled with a useful feature.
Where we embed a provider’s technology into Languvia, we remain responsible for explaining its use and implementing the controls required for our part of the processing. Referring to the provider’s own policy does not replace those responsibilities. ICO An external website you visit through a link may apply its own privacy choices and cookie policy. Your Languvia preference does not necessarily control storage on that separate website.
A service provider is not automatically a cookie provider. For example, processing translation requests or delivering operational emails through a server-side service does not, by itself, establish that the provider places cookies in your browser. Browser-based technologies must be identified separately.
9. How long storage lasts
Different technologies have different lifetimes. Session storage generally lasts for a browser or page session, although browser recovery features can sometimes restore session information.
Persistent cookies can remain between visits until their expiry or earlier removal. Local storage may remain until the website or browser removes it. Unlike a cookie with an expiry date, it does not necessarily expire automatically.
The register below must state the actual duration or deletion condition for each technology. Browser-storage duration is separate from the retention period for server-side consent evidence, security logs or other records described in our Privacy Policy.
We will use durations proportionate to the relevant purpose rather than retaining information indefinitely simply because the technology permits it.
10. Cookie and browser-storage register
Cookie or storage name Provider and domain Technology Purpose and category Duration [Verified authentication identifier] [Provider and exact domain] [Cookie or other storage] Maintain the requested sign-in session — essential [Verified expiry or session rule] [Verified consent-preference key] Languvia — [Exact domain] [Verified storage type] Remember the analytics choice — essential [Verified expiry or removal condition] [Verified security identifier, where used] [Named provider and domain] [Verified technology] [Specific security purpose and assessed category] [Verified duration] [Verified analytics identifier, only where deployed] [Named provider and domain] [Verified technology] [Specific analytics purpose] — optional [Verified duration]
Cookie information should identify the actual technologies, purposes, names and lifetimes—not only broad categories such as “performance” or “functionality.”
11. Browser controls
Your browser may allow you to view, delete or block cookies and other website storage. The available controls depend on the browser and device.
You can normally find these options in the browser’s privacy or website-data settings. Browser controls are additional to Languvia’s consent options, not a replacement for them.
Deleting website data may sign you out or remove saved preferences. Private-browsing modes may limit how long information is retained, but they do not automatically prevent every form of information collection.
To withdraw permission for Languvia’s optional analytics, use “Analytics choices” as well as any browser restrictions you prefer.
12. Websites using Languvia
A customer website using Languvia remains under that website operator’s control. Its cookies may come from WordPress, WooCommerce, its theme, other plugins or independently configured services.
Where a Languvia integration uses browser storage on a customer website—for example, to support a configured language-selection feature—the operator must explain the actual purpose, provider and duration in that website’s own notice and implement any required choice.
Installing Languvia does not automatically provide a complete cookie-consent system for every technology on the customer’s website.
A visitor’s choice on Languvia’s corporate website does not automatically apply to a separate customer website. Responsibility follows the actual decisions about the technologies and purposes involved; this Policy does not remove Languvia’s own obligations where it has them.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when our technologies, providers, purposes or legal obligations change. The updated version will display its effective date and last updated date.
Where a change introduces a new optional purpose or otherwise falls outside an existing consent, we will explain the change and obtain fresh consent where required. Publishing a revised Policy does not itself create that consent.
